The 169th winner of the St Leger, held on Wednesday 5th September 1945 over 1 mile 6 furlongs at York, was Chamossaire, a chestnut colt by Precipitation out of Snowberry, owned by Mr Stanhope Joel. A field of 10 runners contested the race which was worth £10,210. (Equivalent to £416,600 in 2017)
